Let's talk 3D printers!

Pretty sure 13mm*7mm is the package size, not the nozzle itself.

Basically you should be able to use any "MK8" size nozzle. I would get OEM, or for 3rd party my go-to is MicroSwiss:

There is also an M2 hardness (as opposed to A2) one for about $2 more. Probably not worth it though.

Not cheap, but they have been very reliable for me. Beware cheap no-name nozzles that are impossibly cheap (5 pack of "hardened nozzles" for $9 on Amazon? Yeah, those are β– β– β– β– ).

Just be aware, Hardened steel nozzles need much higher temps as they are not very good conductors of heat capered to brass nozzles.

Even with higher temps, they can reduce inter-layer adhesion strength.

Hmmm...I play Pokemon Go and actually haven't printed anything Pokemon related other than "thinking mewtwo".

Pretty sure all the Sovol printers use an mk8 nozzle, like the Creality machines do.

You will have heat problems if you don't use them.

I only bump up 5C using hardened nozzles and have never really had any issues. But YMMV, as they say.

Yeah found parts strength was negatively impacted. Tungsten nozzles are the best solution IME If you need to print abrasive Filament.

Same. My Sprite Pro extruder came with a hardened nozzle, so I just increased my PLA/PLA+ temperatures to 205 (210 initial layer).

Been working fine for Eryone and Overture PLA.

How hard is it to switch from a Bowden tube extruder to a direct drive extruder? Does it require changes to the firmware/software, or is it a fairly straight-forward hardware change?

It depends, just soooo many factors.

Just a change to e-steps + retraction lenght tuning in your slicer.

Pretty embarrassed. face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: DOH, 13mmx7mm is not tiny nozzle size. I blame my country, for not properly educating me on the metric system. America, for shame!

Damn, that is very pretty. Hard to resist, even though as you say it's not a K-Mart special price.

Printed a five drawer storage box from Thingaverse for my printer today. Attaches to the front-left of the printer. Have to hold it with my hand for the pic, since of course I forgot that I'd need connectors to attach it. It'll take care of some small clutter that has been sitting on the printer table.

Next on the list is some stuff to organize some of our spice jars we keep in the cupboard.

I had a 12 hour print fail spectacularly over night at hour 10 (needed supports and the support bridge broke off).

Can't wait until my Bambu P1P gets here.... Though it is still lost in UPS - no ETA and no updates other than "an update will be provided as soon as possible". Blah. Looks like it will be a while.

The spare hardened nozzle assembly for my P1P showed up yesterday though. LOL.

Ouch. That kinda starts the day off on the wrong foot.

Love it when the spare parts arrive first. I've been known to aggressively fondle an accessory that arrived days before the actual device it goes with.

LOL. Just called UPS to see if there was an update... No.

Them: You'll get a delivery time frame update by end of today.

Me: Really? Because when the status updated Saturday to indicate the delay I didn't. And then when the status updated again yesterday to again indicate it was delayed I didn't...

Them: I don't know about that. But you should definitely get a delivery update today.

We'll see.

So I need a few t-nuts/bolts, but can't seem to find anything but a life-time supply. I hate to order something that's just going to sit in my parts supply until my kids have to deal with it decades hence...

This is the smallest assortment I've found - 200 pieces!
# M3 T-Nuts Assortment Kit, Hammer Nut with Hex Socket

Has anyone found any smaller assortments/packages of these?

You can purchase 3mm screws separately at your local big box hardware store. That is what I did. They aren't hex head, but that doesn't bother me.

You'll presumably be dead...who cares

But still...only presumably.

Oooooo...something new in the house. I see productivity crashing hard for the next few days.

I won’t even be getting my printer until Friday (hopefully), but even without the new toy, it’s impressive how long I can spend scrolling through designs on printables/thingiverse!

Printed a PETG temperature tower for Overture PETG.
Remembered that i needed to back off the z-offset, so did that on the fly (-2.00 to -1.98).

235 looks to be the best temperature with the least amount of stringing.

First layer partially separated when I removed it from the PEI build plate after it cooled.

Trust me, if you have them, you will use them!

Yeah, but I don't build 3D printers from spare parts found in the neighbors bins like some people do.

Now if it was 200 Lincoln logs, that I could get behind...
