Length of USB power cable for C8 Pro?

I'll need about a two metre power cable when I buy my C8 here in the UK. What is the length of the included cable?
Many thanks.

~3 feet here in the US

Apologies, @thusband , slightly unrelated...

In trying to research this myself... unless I am missing something... Can I offer some feedback to Hubitat staff that it would be nice if the region was automatically detected by the location attributed to the browser... When on the main Hubitat site shopping for a new hub. I know it will not be perfect in all circumstances.... But might be better than an Aussie getting unnecessarily confused that you only promote the hub as being available for the US region (I eventually noticed the regions across the top of the main page  ).

Hmmm, thanks, maybe I'll buy one that's a bit longer.

edit. What type of connections? Type C?

From memory the C-8 is USB-C. C-7 micro-USB... reluctant to unplug one to find out  I would add to my earlier comments:

  • It would be nice to see connectivity detail like this on the Hubitat site
  • I tried to search to Hubitat on Amazon and nothing showed up....????

Correct but it is a USB A to USB C cable. Important distinction because the hub operates at 5V power not higher voltage that some USB bricks provide.

I asked ChatGPT and got:

" The Hubitat Elevation® Model C-8 Pro smart home hub utilizes a USB-A to USB-C power cable, accompanied by a 5V power adapter. It's crucial to use the provided power supply, as the C-8 may not function correctly with alternative USB-C power sources. hubitat.comHubitat

Users have reported that substituting the original cable with longer or different USB-C cables can result in the hub not powering on. This issue may stem from increased resistance and voltage drop in longer cables or the absence of necessary data lines in some charging cables. For optimal performance, it's recommended to use the supplied cable or ensure any replacement is of high quality and matches the original specifications. Hubitat

In summary, to ensure reliable operation of your Hubitat C-8 Pro, it's best to utilize the included 5V power adapter and USB-A to USB-C cable. If a longer cable is necessary, choose a high-quality data-capable cable to maintain proper functionality."

So I guess I could buy a quality longer cable and use the existing 5V power adapter.

I use a 2 meter USB-A to C cable with a 5V/2A USB-A power supply.

...or, use the existing brick and cable and buy an extension cord to plug the brick into.

I’ve had some issues using extension cords despite them declaring an appropriate specification so I’d be wary. I tried some to extend my wall mounted fire hds to a suitable outlet location and they were suspect. I’d find that the tablets would very slowly discharge as insufficient current was delivered.

Right, thanks. I'm going to go with just a two metre power USB cable with included power adaptor.

You could put one of these with a shorter cable en route to your hub.

No! No! No! The solution is so simple! Until recently the PD Spec has been implemented improperly. It has been defaulting to zero instead of the standard 5V output. That's why is does not work with C8. The new bricks with the new Series IV Chipset solve that problem and they work just fine. You can replace all your old bricks with one new USB C PD brick for everything, including C8. If you use a Hub to distribute PD, make sure it has a PD pass thru for the Series IV.
