Legacy Dashboard: How to Add Variable Tiles

In .127, there’s some issues with variables in legacy dashboard:

  1. When creating a new dashboard, no values can be selected:

  2. When going to a dashboard with a variable tile and editing it, it shows as a « Device »:

  3. When editing an existing dashboard’s variable tile, the « pick a variable » list doesn’t include all variables:

  4. When changing a variable’s value on a dashboard, getting the following:

Variables available on this hub:

Maybe I’m being forgetful, but I don’t recall ever needing to add variables to a dashboard, like we do with devices… right?

I'm not able to reproduce the problems, except #2 which is somewhat of a longstanding oddity. You do need to authorize the variables in the app in the same way as devices, so I suspect that's what you're seeing in your two actual dashboards (and the differences between them).

You need to use the "old fashioned" method of authorizing them through the app, as I mentioned above (the Hubitat Dashboard child app for this dashboard).

I would not suggest this approach unless you really need one for an app that does not work with variables but can work with a device/connector of an appropriate type. Hubitat Dashboard is not one of those apps.

Yea, that is the issue. Been too long since I’ve done this!

I'm still having an issue with this.
I'm trying to add a Hub Variable to a particular dashboard. How do I go about selecting it (or authorizing it) for inclusion to the Dashboard on the following screen:

I still get the following screen:

I got a totally different choose devices page:
(I'm sorry, if I just can't see the page where you get to choose the variables)

(It just says devices, and I don't get a choice of variables)

Nope. This is from a Legacy Dashboard:

I'm sorry for being obtuse.
When I click on the name of the Dashboard, it goes into the Dashboard itself.
That gives me a choice of Devices or Variable, but it says :

For those who come after, and are puzzled by why I can't see on my machine the Hubitat Dashboard Configuration page, I would like to announce that it's due to the differences between Windows/Chrome and Linux/FireFox.
On my Linux/Firefox machine, I cannot see (and cannot go to) the Hubitat Dashboard Configuration screen.
Situation closed.
