LED Mini-Dashboard (replacement for "Switch Dashboard" and Switch Notifications) for Inovelli dimmer/switches

has anybody built a workflow based on sunrise/sunset? If so any recommendations? thanks!

I think this should work, but it isn't turning on at sunset

I suspect that the 2nd scenario (Stop Effect) is not necessary. The LEDs should turn off automatically when the first one reaches its end.

Try removing that 2nd one first and see if it makes a difference…

so far, sunrise has come and they didn't turn off, any suggestions to figure out why?

I would start by enabling debug logging. That would help pinpoint what is happening. Then post a screenshot of the resulting logs for that app.

I deleted the rule, put it back - noticed a green dot this time next to the active portion and now it appears to be working

Well that’s good! I don’t have any green dots next to any of mine, so not sure what its significance might be…

IIRC, the green dot indicates the currently-active option in cases when you have more than one (such as time-period based options, like this example).

But it's been a while since I've used this app, so my memory may be off!

I also seem to recall that it wasn't always consistent -- I remember sometimes seeing the green dot active (in expected circumstances), but other times not... Overall, the setups otherwise worked fine for me, so I didn't bother sweating that green-dot detail much.

Any pointers guys, Im getting the green dots which show my rules are triggering, but Im not getting all the output on the switch (VZW31-SN); the rules that work on LED 1 & 7 are fine, but all of the ones for the "middle LEDs" dont work:

Funny thing is, when I hit the "Test Effect" button it works as expected. I'm trying to use the top and bottom LEDs to show the state of my 2 locks, and the middle section for HSM alerts:

Upon further testing it appears that the notifications fail when using "top half' "middle" or "bottom half" as the selected LED number. When set to "All LEDs" the notifications work correctly.

Im using V1.14 of the apps code, not sure if this has been fixed in a later version or fork?

it doesn't show the options to send notifications to the top/bottom/middle sections of the LED bar. Do you know why this would work with the test button in the app, but not in anger under normal use?

Eric didn't write this Mini-Dashboard app, so I'm not sure he'll be able to help much with this question (aside from possibly considering some enhancements to the Inovelli Switch Toolbox app that help more with top/bottom half illustrations).

This Mini-Dashboard app's author has moved on to using Home Assistant instead of Hubitat.

There is no discrete way to call the top or bottom half -- the 2 available LED-management options are "setAll" (LEDs) or "setOne" (LED).

So to set the top or bottom half (or any combination of one or more LEDs that isn't all of them), you just use one or more "setOne" commands for the LEDs you want involved. For ex, LEDs 7-5 are upper ones, 4 is the middle one, and 3-1 are the bottom 3.

In my experience, some of the animation options (such as Chase, IIRC) do not work unless you are using all LEDs -- being able to better identify what animations work with just a subset of LEDs would be a cool enhancement to the Inovelli Toolbox.

Thanks for the insight here, it might not do what I want it to them, but its crazy as it works in test mode but not when triggered from the rule. These are the top/middle/bottom options I was referring to:

I was looping Eric to see if this might be something that requires the beta FW (1.4) that is up on their site, I don't want to flash away from a stable version ideally, however if it allows me to do what I need to here, I would consider it.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, I don't think firmware really has anything to do with this.

Although I don't know this for a fact (I'm not a dev), I'm 99.9% certain that in the Mini-Dashboard app, it's just stacking several "setOne" commands together to accomplish the corresponding sizing for the various "Half" options.

WRT an animation effect working in Test but not in real-life, that may just be a defect now that this app is no longer being actively maintained. Sometimes, real-life trial-&-error is the best we got.

Or are you saying that none of the "Half" settings work at all (even just for plain solid colors)?

I'm not familiar with the application, but if it works using a "test" mode, but not when triggered in real life it would probably be best to compare the logs from each occurrence to see what the difference is. I see some logs above is that from when it was run in "test" mode?

If you could get logs from test vs non test with as little extra information as possible, we could probably figure out what is going on in the app.

I appreciate that video -- thank you -- that at least confirms that the Chase effect is possible with just a few LEDs (i.e. not restricted to using all of them).

I've been meaning to set up some new notifications on my Garage Blue, so I finally did that tonight... I did a "Chase" (effect #5) animation for one of them and although it initially seemed to freeze up for a second or two, the Chase animation effect did then kick in and start working. It then fired right away on a few follow-on tests.

I'm just using the middle five LEDs (6-2) for that Chase, since I use LEDs 1 & 7 for a different unrelated notification.

But I use Rule Machine (instead of this Mini-Dashboard app) to set all my various Blue LED notifications, so maybe the issue you're running into is unique to this app. Or maybe there's some other difference unique to how all this works for Reds versus Blues.
