Leak Sensors

What does everyone recommend for a good leak sensor. I am coming from smart things and loved their leak Sensors. Just cannot find them anymore.

If you can wait a little while, they will be available again as an Aeotec product:

Not likely at the same price point however !!:slightly_frowning_face:

I'm in the same boat. The two types of sensors I have I love (dome and ST), but neither are available to purchase right now.

Considering going for the Ring ones (I have a Ring alarm) while I wait...

I have the Iris Leak Sensors. They have worked well. Can still find a few on Ebay

Depends on what you want to use it for. I use one of these Utilitech ones to monitor my sump pump in case the pump fails and the water level rises above a certain point. The long sensor wire works great for this purpose. Can still find them cheap on Ebay. They are ZWAVE.

Homeseer makes a couple of decent z-wave sensors. The battery-powered LS (-100??) sensor has worked well for me, and is also a decent temp sensor. The FS-100 flex sensor works almost too well, in that the leak sensor cord you attach to it can signal a leak in high humidity (not great for a well room area, for example, but great for detecting even a drop of water). The FS can be powered by battery or USB and also has a great thermometer function that can report every minute if desired, on USB power.

Aqara one from Xiaomi works fine for me. Cheap too.

I have 12 Utilitech in service. They are z-wave (not plus), don't report much on battery, beep on low battery, have a 10' cord, look good (to me), and cheap. They were used as part of Iris. Batteries, 3AAA, require a little screw to be removed-annoying.

They may not report, but everytime I test one, it works.

I ended up repurposing some cheap Ecolink zigbee contact sensors I got for less than $5 a piece off ebay, and an Ecolink Z wave tilt sensor I was no longer using.
I connected the contacts to some probes from amazon. I had to customize some generic drivers to make them "water/leak sensors" but they seem to work well. And you can run additional probes in parallel to add more coverage.

That's brilliant.
Would you be willing to share your driver tweaks?

I'll try to get them on Git later today.

I like this idea, is it working out for you? Where can I find the drivers you mentioned?

Seems to be working fine. Here's a link to my Git , there is a zigbee and z wave version.

Looking at trying this hack. The 'ol Aqara just keep going astray even though I have rid myself of all ZB repeaters except Ikea.
I assume there are a couple of blank pads on the cct board or did you just use the reed relay connections?

There are some decent size pads where the reed switch connects to the board.
