Could someone please explain the difference between a device's last update vs last activity timestamp?

"Last Update" is the last time you made some change, like editing something under Device Information and hitting Save Device.

"Last Activity At" is the last time a driver sent an event (even if it was "filtered" by the platform due to no change), usually in response to incoming data from a device.

Does anyone have a good view/report on this? I had a battery dashboard setup, and didn’t realize it hadn’t moved, and didn’t have activity in 3 months. Battery was dead, and showed it was still good.
