I think in the last couple months or so my local area network web dashboards lose connection over time. A simple browser refresh fixes it but it never used to happen. I'm using devices with static IP addresses, It happens on both the old iPad I have mounted to the wall as a kiosk (both Chrome and Safari) and also same thing on a linux desktop running chrome.
I see there is a similar issue from back in 2023 but I'm doubt this is the same because in all that time my dashboards had no issues. But it does seem like some changes to the WebSocket code might be the issue?
This new issue may have started in September with this dashboard bug: - at that time I reverted back to the previous version. After letting time pass - I think in Feb I decided to update to the current version. The dashboards worked after that - but they timed out and required a manual refresh on the kiosks.
I don't see a lot of community talk about this issue - so I must be very much in the minority. Or everyone is just okay with hitting refresh when they use their dashboard.
For what it's worth - I run Home Assistant at the school where I'm the IT Director - and they recently broke their dashboard for the old ipads I used as kiosks there as well. There was no fix to that because they stated any older IOS (in this case IOS12) would not work and that I should go buy new ipads. Hrrmmm... I ended up having ChatGPT code me a new dashboard interface using the Home Assistant API and Python Flask as a sort of "Bridge". Hoping to not have to do the same thing here. It works... but is far less convenient than the dashboard build interfaces on either Hubitat or Home Assistant. ![]()
