Kwikset HomeConnect 620 pairing issues

Finally worked for me too! Thank you!

Ugh. These steps are not working for me. Are you pairing with or without security?

EDIT: GOT IT! I originally tried with Security but it failed to finish pairing. I kept retrying without security after I moved the lock next to the hub. I just retried with security and it went through. After I did the Get Code, nothing was fetched and the Lock Code Manager was giving errors. I needed to "Configure" and then everything was golden after that.

With security. I don't think Hubitat will even give you the option to go no security. Even if so, the lock will not work without it.

I am having the same exact issue and I am an experienced user. I literally unplug the hub and moved it next to the lock and nothing. This is happening on multiple locks not just one. I have an older habitat hub with older quickset locks and those connected right away. With the newer locks and the newer hub having this issue. It does get to the point of asking for the code once I put the code in it says it is bootstrapping and then just stops. I have done factory reset I have excluded and nothing. This is with two brand new kwikset locks same problem. I had no problem connecting basic Z-Wave light switches but with the locks we have an issue. I see some people have managed to get this to work so what is the secret to getting this to work or is it a bug between the hub and this particular lock?

So I got my smart home kwikset 620's to work and I did not have to put them close to the hub. I added the device by going to device type lock, zwave kwikset 620. I then hit the exclude from Zwave, I hit the A button on the lock once. It excluded unknown device immediatly. I then hit zwave include and hit the a button once on the lock. It read and gave an option to pair with security or without. The lock manual says you must use security. The pin code is right next to the qr code below where the battery goes. (Why is there no smart include option to just scan the qr code, anyway) put the code it, it asked for device name, gave it a name, room where located, then boom it was connected. It automatically fetched all the codes that are already in on the lock, etc. Very happy, I have programmed both of my locks. I also enabled on Alexa and went into the Alexa app so I can lock and unlock my doors from Alexa. Note if you are going to unlock with Alexa you will need a voice code before it will let you unlock. Lock does not need the code. I am a happy camper. My wife tends to leave doors unlocked and lights on. Now I will create a program to lock all locks every hour. I wish there was an option in the programming to do this for us for locks rather than having to create 24 instructions, anyway.

Just as a side note, all locks and garage door openers require security when paired to hubitat. If you try to pair it without security it will fail.

That said, for giggles, can you post your z-wave details page? (Use windows Snip) Want to see if you added any ghosts to your mesh.

Just set the automation to run on a cron schedule hourly.

There is - all 5 of my Kwikset 620 locks were included using SmartStart.

How do I do that?

There was no option whatsoever to scan the QR code when I went to add the device and I looked everywhere. So tell me, if it is there in the current version, where is it?

As indicated in the documentation, SmartStart requires the use of the mobile app. And has been available for a very long time.

Hit the + button on this screen:

And then choose SmartStart device on this screen:

While these screen shots were taken with the new app, SmartStart has been available with the old app approximately since when the C-7 was released.

Perhaps you hadn’t read the documentation?

Select 'periodic schedule' as the trigger.
