I have a Kwikset 912 Z-Wave lock. Works perfectly with Hubitat-can lock/unlock via the dashboard and via the keypad on the lock itself. The status in Hubitat (locked or unlocked) is always correct in these cases. However, the status gets out of sync after manually locking/unlocking it a few times. In looking at the Hubitat log, for a while the Kwikset will send a "locked manually" code when I lock it, then send an "unlocked manually" code when I unlock it. After a few times of doing this, the Kwikset will send a "locked manually" code when I lock it, then send another "locked manually" code when I unlock it. Once this happens, the lock always sends the wrong code and Hubitat always shows the wrong status unless I hit Refresh. Pulling the batteries out resets everything and it works fine for a while, but eventually manually locking/unlocking the door will cause it to get out of sync again. It may be a problem with my particular unit, but it sure feels like a firmware glitch. I have a case open with Kwikset, but they currently think the set screws on the handles aren't tight enough (they are) and that's causing the problem. Wondering whether anyone else has experienced this?
I had this problem and several others with the zwave kwiksets. I’ve had no problems with the zigbee ones. You can convert yours if you can find the zigbee card on eBay.
Based on some of the other threads about Kwikset Zwave locks, I figured this might be the answer. I"m glad it's not just something I'm doing wrong! But man, those Zigbee cards are expensive and hard to find! Thanks for the input.
There are also zwave plus cards for the Kwikset locks. Not sure how easy/hard to find they are. Last bunch I bought I got off of ebay.
While I currently run the zigbee modules in my 3 locks, I have the zwave and zwave plus modules, too.
@JasonJoel any issues with your Zwave plus lock? I have a 912 Zwave plus coming my way. I have a few used zigbee modules bookmarked just in case.
I haven't ran the zwave plus modules in a long time (in favor of the zigbee ones) - so I'm not sure / can't really comment.
Thanks. I will run with Zwave plus for a little while to see how it goes. The lock will be in my utility room with a Zooz 23 at the direct opposite end. It's only about 10 feet away. ...hoping that will act as a great repeater for the lock and I won't run into the lock status issues that @mmueller is having.
I have been running 2 kwikset converts with z-wave plus and one that has a touch number pad for between 4 and 8 months and experience the out-of-sync status in batches. It will happen for me a bunch of times and then not happen for a while, however, trying to to change the status in the Dashboard on my mobile usually allows it to re-sync my devices to the correct states. Knock on wood, I've not had to pull the batteries to reset them.
@scott4 Welcome to this awesome community! I will grab up a zigbee module then. Thanks for the info and have a wonderful night!
Don't think my problem is a distance issue. But I also had the pairing problem that everyone has with these Z-wave locks - it's almost impossible to get them to pair with HE without having them right next to each other during the inclusion process. Having the Zooz nearby will help once the lock is paired.
