I installed a 620 lock. I see the device but there is no response from lock it won’t lock or unlock
Check the device type, for a Zwave+ use the Generic Zwave Lock driver and make sure you hit configure. If you are still having issues please post a screen shot of your Zwave Details.
I hope this helps.
Also I added to Alexa skill the side door lock and when I asked her to lock she said that I have to add with the Alexa app but it only showed me Kwikset Halo and a few others but not the 620.
The lock does not appear to be paired securely. You’ll need to exclude it, and re-pair it very close to your Hubitat, so it can pair securely.
Data section looks all wrong, did you hit Configure?
Was expecting something more like:
If you did hit configure, then you'll need to exclude the lock and re-pair it with S2.
Hate to sound ignorant but what is S2?
It is one of two encrypted (secure) z-wave protocols. The other being S0.
Do you have a C-5 hub? Or something more recent? The C-5 only supports S0. Either S0 or S2 are needed for locks to communicate with the hub.
It's the less chatty security version, but like @aaiyar points out you need to be using a C7 or C8 to use it, otherwise use the S0. Your current data section looks more like it belongs to a Dome Sensor...
I have a C7. I think best is to exclude device, delete it and start over. Does anyone use the Alexa app with the 620 lock?
Alexa is aware of my 620, but normally not used - needs the PIN code set up in Alexa to unlock if you decide to use it that way.
Alexa will work with any lock supported by Hubitat.
I have excluded the lock and tried to pair but it won't pair. I have done a factory reset and still the same. When trying to add I used the generic lock device since the 620 is not listed. I am ready to return this lock. I called Kwikset and they said as long as the code works they have nothing to do with connecting to any hub. Does anyone have a recommendation for a lock that works.
How close is the lock to the hub? Locks use whisper mode while pairing, so close proximity is essential.
I used the mobile app to pair. The hub is about 50 ft from the side door with 2 walls. I do have 2 dome repeaters and a zooz receptacle along the 50 ft. When you setup your lock did you put it together and then paired it near the hub?
I saw on You Tube that Hubitat spokesperson used the mobile app with a Kwikset lock. I think it was a 916. He made it look so easy that is why I bought this one. I think the 916 is an older version of the 620.
Let me elaborate on what I wrote earlier. Z-Wave locks use whisper mode during pairing. And will not pair via repeaters. Your lock needs to be right next to the hub (within 2-3 feet) during pairing.
You will not get the lock to pair correctly in the setup you described. Either bring the lock close to the hub and then put it back on the door. Or bring the hub close to the lock and then relocate it to its original location after successful pairing.
So when then Hubitat guy did it on You Tube it must have been for another lock. It seemed so easy.
Guess I have to bring the lock to the hub. Are all locks like that with HE?
All zwave locks are like that on ALL zwave controllers. Whisper mode doesn’t differ by controller.
I moved the hub within 6 feet of the lock. I did an exclusion and it found it and excluded. I then did an inclusion. I am using the mobile app. I included and it said that it found a zwave device and asked for security and I hit no. After the timer went to 0 without inclusion. I did another exculsion and tried an inclusion and same thing.
Why? As @thebearmay and I indicated, locks have to be paired securely.
