Hello / Happy Holidays to everyone. I've read as much as I could in this community and still a bit fuzzy on knowledge base. What is the difference between the 2 ?
I currently have a C8Pro and all of my devices (50 devices) are Zwave. Not to say....that I won't ever use Zigbee or any other protocol. I've pretty much stayed within the Hubitat realm using the mobile app and automations.
I've read ALOT of positive things with Home Assistant and the incredible Dashboards that can be made. I purchased a Home Assistant Yellow that's still sitting in a box for almost a year. I've read I can use the HA Yellow hub to control devices via Hubitat Hub since the HE Hub as all the radios. With that being said which do I use ? HACS or HADB ?
Thankyou in advance. I have a few more questions but am waiting for the replies.
The former can help you get Hubitat devices into Home Assistant. The latter does the reverse. That is the biggest difference, though a significant one, since it depends on what your goals are.
My goals are
just control my devices - Home Assistant to Hubitat
I would add my devices through Hubitat and then Control them with HA. No sure if I am making any sense
between the 2 is any of them the "preferred" way to go ?
The custom component/integration for Hubitat on Home Assistant (available via HACS, but note that this is neither HACS itself nor the only way to install it, though by far the easiest) sounds like what you want in this case.
The HADB solution is geared for devices you have added to HASS you want to control from Hubitat, not the other way around.
I'm looking to do the same and use the HA dashboards. But if I find a device that only works with HA, would I still be able to share it to Hubitat if I use HACS?
