Jasco Zwave Switches Failing (multiple in one day) - Resolved

So Jasco basically said Im out of warranty so they can't help. I've replaced all of the jasco switches that are defective (date codes 1749 and model number ZW4005 zwave ver:5.0d) with newer switches. All working well...for now

how old are they.. call them back.. they increased their warranty to 5 years i belive due to premature failure of their products.

You know this may sound crazy you should try calling back and see if you get a different person on the phone is more understanding. Lead off with telling them that all your switches are Jasco and that's all you buy and you're looking for some help with some surprising multiple failures. You might get some consideration... :man_shrugging:

Thanks!, looks simple enough.

Easy for someone armed with:

  • Solder
  • Needle nose pliers
  • A totally cool Agilent tester

I buddy of mine has repaired a few of my failed on/off switches. He replaced the faulty capacitor with a new one. I think he said it costs about 25 cents? Not counting labor. However this was until I learned that Jasco had extended the warranty on them. I've had 5 or 6 replaced under warranty now, all have been Z-Wave switches for me replaced with Z-Wave+. Knock on wood, I've had my power off and on many times over the last year (solar panels, critical load sub panel, and finally batteries installed) and none of my remaining switches have failed. (knock on wood)

Same - it's actually been nice, as through the warranty I've had my old Z-Wave switches replaced w/the new Z-Wave Plus. Happy ending.
