Issues with v2.3.9.180 on C-7 hub

I recently upgraded my HE7 to v2.3.9.180... since installing the update, over half of my 30 Z-Wave devices are failing and not responding. I've rebooted the HE7 multiples times as well as performed a Z-Wave repair. Neither has resolved the issue. Any other suggestions before I downgrade?

Did you do the shutdown via system settings menu, pull the power supply, wait 30 seconds, and plug back in? That's been my go-to move. :slight_smile:

Are they failing on Z-Wave repair, or how are they failing besides going unresponsive?

Z-Wave repair is not the appropriate tool to use when devices are unresponsive. In fact, running repair when devices can't communicate with the hub could have negative effect on the overall mesh. If you run a repair, and devices are failing, you will need to investigate why they are failing before running another Z-Wave repair.

@velvetfoot ... thanks I'll give this a try.

@bobbyD ... they fail on individual Z-wave repair as well as Z-Wave repair in the Settings/Z-wave/Maintenace page.

@bobbyD ... just prior to the firmware update, ALL of these devices were working and have been for over 2 years. All but a couple of part of rules which run multiple times a day. Now whether I attempt to turn them On/Off via the Dashboard or individually in the Devices section, not only do they not respond to the command, but I also don't see any entry in the Live Log

Update on my situation... as of this morning, I have not found a single Z-Wave device which will respond to On/Off commands. So I'm going to try @velvetfoot suggestion to power down the HE7, pull power and then power back up to see if this has any effect.

It would be very easy to rule out a problem specific to the latest release. Go to Diagnostic Tool and restore to prior version. If your system is back to normal, then you (and us) will know something in the new update has caused the problem. If issues persist, then you will have the confirmation that one or more devices in your system started to misbehave, which could happen whether you make physical changes or not.

But try my suggestion first... :slight_smile:

After downgrading to v2.3.9.176, I can now control my Z-Wave devices...

So, you never tried my suggestion?

Can you send me a private message along with your hub id?

@velvetfoot ... oops my bad. Yes, I did try your suggestion BEFORE I downgraded.

Well....it's still my go-to move. :slight_smile:

Thanks for the details. We checked your hub and it doesn't look like the problems are related to the update itself, or even with the Z-Wave radio. It appears that your hub has many pending asynchronous HTTP requests. You should have more details in your logs/past logs about which app is stuck. You can update your hub to the latest version.

@bobbyD ... those http request I believe are due to my Konnect device failing. Since that occurred over a month ago and I lost all control over my Z-Wave devices which I upgraded a few days ago, what is the reason the problem will not reoccur if I upgrade now?

Because there were no changes in the latest update that would affect your Z-Wave devices, nor any errors in your hub's engineering log related to this update. Of course, if you run into the same problems, let us know.

Great news... I just upgraded to v 2.3.9.181 and no impact on my Z-Wave devices
