The old op was 192.168.0.1. Now it's 1.1.
My hud has a static IP and now I can't login.
How do I change my hubs IP?
Oh shoot I deleted my own answer!
Try that. It will return your hub to DHCP and at least you can connect to it. Then create a DHCP reservation in your router. I find it easier than using a static IP. You should also check other devices, particularly if you have IP-based integrations like Lutron.
Hopefully this was a physical swap of the router and not an over-the-wire update. If they just surprised you one day with a different subnet I'd be pissed. If they sent you a new router, well, at least it wasn't unexpected.
alternatively (if you have other static IP devices), log into your router and change the IP range to 192.168.0.X
No good. Still can't login
The problem with the new router is it just shows Mac address
Did the hub restart after the reset and does it now have a green light?
Just turned blue waiting for reset
ah yeah ok give it time to come back up. The router should definitely show you the IP associated with the hub's MAC address.
No good. I tried connect to hub and find hub. Won't connect
Does your hub show up in the router's DHCP table? It should be there along with a new IP address.
Just logged in. Can I leave it like this, or does it need a static IP?
The network reset clears out any static IP assignment on the hub. So... it should work.
It may take a few minutes for the findmyhub site to find it. You can also use the advanced discovery methods on there to find the new IP it got.
I would also go on the router and assign the hub to a static IP in DHCP, then you may need to reboot the router and hub for it to fully take effect.
Not NEEDED, but if you have anything local that needs to talk back to the hub the static IP will keep it working.
This. Though for clarity I usually use the phrase "reserve an IP assignment in DHCP" to make it clear it's a permanent IP but not really static in the sense it would be if you reconfigured the hub itself.
Ok , I have to find the Mac address of the hub. This new router app is not user friendly.
Thanks for all your help
It will likely start with 34:e1:d1 and it's also on the bottom of the hub. Most conventions call for a colon between each two digits.
the router will show MAC addresses for the devices, but you can change the range of your IP scope (if your router allows for it). this can put your network back on 192.168.0.X and your static devices in that network would regain connectivity
If you manual setup an IP in your computer in the same range just do not use .1. You should be able to access it locally. Make sure your netmask is 255.255.255.0.
are you able to log into your router through a web browser from a PC instead of using their app? might make the experience better
I wonder if http://hubitat.local would work in this case…?
