You are correct in that I used it for a well water shutoff in the event of a leak. I considered using a shut off valve, but you'd still need to shut the pump off to avoid dead heading the pump and damaging it.

Yep. I use mine on my water pump, effectively shutting off the water in the event of a leak.

so the water turn off every time you mop and make the sensor go off?

Fortunately, I have my sensors placed strategically out of usual water splash locations 
Unfortunately GE/Jasco have discontinued this switch and it’s no longer available.
