I have about 20 dimmable bulbs - I want to have their color and brightness values syncronized. Currently using simple rules I will set 'all bathroom lights to xxx color xxx brightness' based on Mode and a Lux value. It works great, but now I have to write rules for all bulbs throughout the house. How can I have 1 screen to handle the default values of all dimmable bulbs?
Preference Manager is unlikely to help unless your bulb has some sort of "default" options for on or power restore, but you could certainly look (maybe some Z-Wave bulbs do? if you don't see anything under "Device Preferences" on the device page that helps you, then no--this is a somewhat unique app in that it deals with preferences, not device commands).
Can you share your current setup? Maybe someone can suggest a built-in app that will do what you want (Motion/Mode Lighting sounds close?) or a good way to build a rule that does what you want. A clearer description of your goals would also help--e.g., when you say "synchronized," do you mean that you have some "main" bulb you're trying to "mirror" states to (there's an app for that)? Or just that you want mode-based CT/color for automations (which, again, Motion Lighting can probably handle)?
Thanks for the recommend of Preference Manager - at first I thought - Aha! - then I was disappointed. It doesn't allow me the ability to set the defaults drilled down to a specific Mode.
I'm thinking along the lines of the Lighting Effects app but it also doesn't really hit the nail on the head. I can manage the bulbs with a rule, but that really doesn't help for new bulbs unless I manage the rule each time I add a bulb. Preference manager really seemed like it was the place for my needs.
When you suggest I share my current setup - how do you mean? screen cap my devices? list my apps kind of thing?
For now - I'm going to step away from this as it's not pressing. It came up because I've spent a considerable amount of time getting Lux and Lux + time of day to set all my bulbs to match and reflect appropriate brightness and ColorTemp and I was looking to finalize it and apply it in a generic way so I didn't have to open and close 8 individual rules each time I wanted to adjust. It's currently accurate to my needs so I'll leave this sleeping dog lie. No doubt in 3 months someone will have implemented something!
update- I stumbled on 'Mirror' - but it didn't have the flexibility I needed to 'mirror values but not states' (I think I said that right). Still keeping this in the back of my mind!
