I loved converting my lamps into touch lamps. Has anyone had any luck with using one of these paired with a micro switch or something to be used as a switch? Or perhaps there is already a switch with a capacitive input wire?
I don't have an answer for you but I like the idea as I've done the same with some lamps and it hadn't occurred to me to do as you're suggesting.
I'll be watching...
i feel like people just use smart bulbs and control the brightness by dimming that way. i can't say i've seen many touch lamps like this since the 90s, but it does bring back some nice memories
I donโt really have any interest in dimming the lamp with the switch โ my lamps are either on or off. I just want to use the touch base as a generic input. Iโd even like to double tap / triple tap it and trigger other things if I had the option.
Something like this? https://knocki.com
It's wifi, I assume, and I have no idea if it could be integrated to Hubitat. It does look for "knocks", versus a simple touch, but maybe?
There's also stuff like this: https://www.amazon.ca/COOSA-Compatible-Position-Capacitive-Wireless/dp/B076H2R6H1 (amazon.com isn't working for me right now, but whatever).
@durable-navy-blue-ot if youโre interested in hiding it into the base of a lamp a Shelly 1 can make both the lamp smart and the touch module smart. It has a detached mode so you can use the lamp however you want
