Versions 2.1.0 (368). Admittedly I haven’t used or kept up with the app for a while. Trying to add a Zwave dimmer with smart start and I can’t find the Zwave tools anywhere in the app any more. Were they taken out?how do you add Zwave LR without SmartStart?
I've never used SmartStart I just pair all my Zwave devices, LR included, using normal Add Device and the Start Inclusion process. That should still work. Just added some Zooz leak detectors and a range extender last week that way.
It is still there. Go into devices at the bottom and + in the upper left. If you try to add a device connected locally it is not there
Do your LR devices actually pair in LR mode that way? They aren't supposed to. They should fail back to mesh mode.
On Android app v2.0.9 I just go to DEVICES, hit +, and the first page has an option called Add SmartStart devices.
Ya ninja'ed me. lol
All signs point to no :
Hmmm I was under the impression that was the only way to get LR, that the normal inclusion includes as regular z-wave. This is a Zooz Zen74z
It’s not there, but I’m confused by what you said. If you try to add locally, isn’t that the only way?
It’s the only way I’ve been able to do it.
Per spec you have to use smartstart to pair in LR mode. I think the second post is just pairing their LR devices in mesh mode.
I just upgraded my app to 2.1.0 version, and Add SmartStart devices is still there when going to devices and hitting the + (add) button. And now there is a spiffy new Add Matter Devices as well.
I don’t have a + button (second screen shot above).
Might be a bug, unless for some reason you are connected through the cloud instead of locally to your hub.
@lcw731 , Also, I had a thing when I got a new router. Stopping and restarting the app got it on the right track again.
Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant going into the hub via "connect to hub" which takes you into a browser.
Agree with @JasonJoel, looks like a bug.
Well, I got to thinking, I used the iPad and it was there. but not on the phone. Weirdness. The phone is new, just installed the app (no idea why it did nt transfer over like the rest).
Something does seem buggy. Same router i have used for the last three or four years.
I misspoke.
I actually uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it.
This was for an issue where the ip wasn't correct.
Ahh, well it looks like that might be it, but thats a bug in itself then. The app looks like it
is connecting through the cloud (on the phone) even though the phone is connected to the wife the hubs are on. I don’t see a way to force it over to local (didn't that used to be an option?)
If you disable cell network service on your phone, can you control your devices with the app? That would be a test to see if WiFi works.
Uninstalling/Reinstalling the app isn't a big deal, if you wanted to give it a whirl.
I think you need your Hubitat login/password, as I recall.
Yes that is why its not letting you use SmartStart, they have been battling this issues for a while with it thinking it is on cloud, I thought it was fixed but may have had a regression on that.
Two things to check, disable cellular then force quit and restart the app.
Make sure your phone is connected to your main Wifi and not some guest / isolated network.
I did uninstall/reinstall as @velvetfoot suggested and it got it back on local.
Do I win a prize?
It'd be a booby prize for sure.
