I would like to use variable values in both legacy and RM5 rules--specifically variables with connectors, user-entered on a dashboard. I have create parallel legacy and hub variables (with connectors), but is it possible to sync them?
I thought I had it, using a RM5 rule triggered by a change in the legacy connector, which sets the hub variable to the connector value of the legacy variable. But the attribute list for the legacy connector is empty, rather than showing a value attribute. Is there another way to access the value of a connector variable?
I encountered similar difficulty. I know there are many users on this forum that state there is no need to update your rules to RM5+, but if you need to write new rules that use existing variables, this is my take on it: Hubitat firmware update frequency - #24 by Stephan.J
Thanks. Interesting discussion. I understand that a rule translator to transfer rules to RM5 would be daunting, but a variable translator would seem easier.
At any rate, bothered by the kludginess of what I was trying to do (which wasn't even possible, apparently), I rewrote all of the legacy rules that use the variables into RM5.
