Is "Hub Protect" the only way to backup the device paring and settings on a C7?

Is there away or another way to backup my Z-Wave radio configuration (routings etc)?

I purchased an Aeotec Extender 7 to beef up my Z-wave mesh. Having installed a few days ago it seems my mesh is happy enough to not try and connect through the Extender 7. So I plan in removing a 300 series device that is the first hop off the Hub for many devices.
If I totally screw up the mesh I was wondering if there is a "go back in time" method.

Not to my knowledge.

Those RE7s are strange ducks -- I've had 4 for over a year and only once in a great while I'd catch something routing thru one of them - most of the time, nada across the board.

Now in the last month or so, all of them are routing at least one thing consistently. No changes to anything during that time, so I have no idea why they're suddenly active.

700 Z-wave is a mysterious animal!

Properly exclude the old . After you exclude it. Shut down your hub and unplug it at the wall (not the hub) for 20 mins and then power back up. Let things go 24 hours and see how things go.

Make sure you are running the latest firmware version on your Aeotec RE7...

Aeotec Range Extender 7 Firmware

Thanks Do you know how to check the Extender firmware version?

If you use the "Device Firmware Updater" from the "Add Built-in Apps". Select the Aeotec Range Extender 7 device (you can do this before uploading any firmware) and choose the target from the pull-down. This will show the firmware verson on the device. See attached picture where my device shows version 1.05.

I am running 2.3.0.124 and I have never successfully been able to use OTA update with any device paired with S2 security. To update the RE7, I unpaired it and repaired it with no security. After the OTA update, I unpaired it and repaired it with S2.

If you attempt OTA update with S2 security, the update will fail with: โ€œERROR: The
transferred image does not match the Firmware Targetโ€. You can try with S2, but this is the error you will get.... not just on RE7 devices. I filed a ticket with support on 12/20/21.
