Iris Care Pendant - Won't Work

Got a brand new Iris Care Pendant today. Paired quickly, set driver to Iris V1 Care Pendant, hit config. Can press button on device screen and it logs the push and shows battery level. However, won't turn something on or log from the device itself. Help!

What app are you using to react to the button press? Button Controller? When you say "it won't turn on anything from the device", the device itself cannot turn anything else on. That's how the infrastructure of the hub works. Devices can only interact if they are in a parent/child relationship. Otherwise, the only thing that can transfer anything from one device to another is an app. In this case, I would recommend looking at Button Controller.

I had set up a simple lighting rule to turn on my hall light when button was pushed, Nothing happens. Then I tried Button Controller. It would turn on hall light when you press on the config screen but not the button itself.

Show the Device Event's screen.

Will send when I get home tonight. Thanks

I'm betting you won't see any events in your listing, especially if the rule is executing correctly when you simulate the button press. It's also possible that since you had to set the driver manually that the device did not pair correctly. All devices on the supported devices list are supposed to pair the proper driver based on their "footprint" that is passed to HE during the pairing process. So, you might want to try removing the device and try to re-pair it again.

I do remember the two times I paired it paired as "device" then I changed the driver and tried "config"

Ah ha! Then that's most likely your problem. Also, do you have a
Gen 1 image
or Gen 2 image

I believe only the gen 1 is supported at this time. If you have a gen 1, try doing a reset.

Gen 2

Ah...only the v1, which I believe is the same as Gen 1, device is supported. The one made by "alert.me".

Well damn....my life story. LOL Thanks for all your help though

No problem! I should have probably started with that question. To be honest, until I looked it up on the supported devices list I didn't realize there were two. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
The Gen 2 is zigbee HA 1.2 though. I wonder why it isn't supported. Hey @mike.maxwell, just a quick question....has there been any attempt to get the Gen 2 Iris care pendant to work with HE? I see it's zigbee HA 1.2 compatible. So, it should be possible, right? Thanks!!

They are the ones all over Ebay "cheap" right now.......I should have researched better. Oh well, only out $10 bucks

Thanks Mike!! You're the best!

See @tgrant48, you're just ahead of your time. The price will probably go up once it's supported by HE so you just got a great deal. For only $10 I might pick one up myself.

Such an optimist.........but you could be right! Oh, and thanks in advance Mike.

I don't think I've ever been described that way but I'm trying.

Any updates on the V2 ?
I would like to set it up to send a text alert. I guess rule machine will work in the mean time.
{HELP I FALLEN,BLAH BLAH BLAH} LOL

Like to know also.

Just changed a friend over from ST. One big issue is the Gen 2 Iris pendant. His wife has some health problems and uses it to get ahold of him when needed.

Is there a similar pendant that works with HE?
