iPhone as presence sensor

Hi all,

I’ve got my iPhone configured as a presence sensor, I am using a C7 with the latest operating system.
The phone gives a notification when I leave but does not notify when I arrive.
I do get notification of arrival if I open the app but this could be 20 minutes after arriving.
Obviously no good for routines for switching devices when returning home.
I am using geofencing.
Anybody have any ideas?

There are a lot of threads on this issue. I was having the exact same issue as you. I just recently started using [RELEASE] Combined Presence. So far it has been working well for me. Hopefully they will get the geofencing working correctly in future releases.

I also have 2 SmartThings sensors, they work fine.

Do I need an Apple TV or pod for HomeKit?

I’ve you want remote control of homekit devices or devices presented to homekit in the home app, yes.

Yes, for using HK as a presence-related tool.

Not all Apple TVs can be a HK hub though, so if you get one of those over a pod, just verify that particular model can.
