I've had my C8 (2.4.1.167) running for about a year with no network issues. Then last week I couldn't get into the web interface at the IP number (192.168.1.137) it has had since day one. The Android app worked fine and shows that IP. I went to https://findmyhub.hubitat.com/ and it found the C8 at that IP but clicking Connect To Hub did not work. I pressed the reset button on the bottom of the C8 and after it turned green I still could not connect via web.
I then went to hubitat.local and it worked, bringing up the webpage! So I went into the settings and network configuration and set the IP to be static at 137 (my DHCP range is 201-249). After a reboot, it came up working as 137. For a while my router showed TWO devices: Hubitat on 137 and "Global Technologies, Inc." on 149. What is Global Technologies, Inc.?
Now 149 is gone and Hubitat appears to be ok on 137 again. BUT my Android app does not connect to it (just spinning circle)! If I click "eHub Cloud" that shows the hub ID and IP address correctly, but "Search this hub on LAN" just gives a spinner with "Scanning LAN for Hub".
Fairly normal. Your DHCP lease finally expired and your hub at some point was issued a new ip. Your router showed the old one in cache after you used a static ip on the hub. What you should do is a DHCP reservation and leave your hub set to DHCP. This way every time it boots even if renewing the hub will always get the same ip.
Thanks for the tip! But what about my Android app not connecting? On the app under My Account it doesn't show any Registered Hubs. Is that ok? What's the solution to connect?
Not exactly sure how to check if the hub sees the internet except that Findmyhub.hubitat.com sees the hub and if I do a check for updates it knows that there are none available on the web. I've restarted the app and the phone completely a couple times. Same results.
EDIT: WAIT A MINIT! It now appears to be working ok! THanks guys. Don' t know why it took so long to hook up but I'm happy.
