iOS App not working

I recently switched to using a Hubitat hub when my Sengled hub stopped working.
Downloaded the Hubitat Elevation app. Set up of my devices was fairly easy. Schedules were not to bad to set up. But now the app can't connect to the hub. Light yellow error box all the time that says 'reconnecting to hub'.
Can not manually control devices with app.
Schedules still work fine.

On what platform did you install the app?

What is the color of the LED on the hub?

Are you able to connect to the hub via it’´s IP using a web browser?

The light on the hub is green.
The app is installed on an iPhone 13 Pro.
I was able to connect with the website connected for a brief moment, but now that does not work either
Always get the same error on both that they are reconnecting to the hub.

You can try the diagnostics tool, if that does not work just unplug it for a few seconds and plug back in to reboot it.

Tried that

Sounds like your hub cannot connect to the internet anymore, possibly not your LAN even. Have you looked at the client list on your router to verify the IP and that it is connecting?

It's hardwire connected to the router. I have checked and it does show connected.

Question: does the hub only support 2.4 GHz connections?

Correct it only has a 2.4Ghz radio. You can connect it to a mixed SSID no problem, thats how my test hub is cnnected.

So you verified the IP in your router, and you try to go to that IP in a browser but it wont load? Both the main UI and the DIagnostic tool time out?

What is the IP of your device and the IP of your hub? I want to verify they are on the same subnet at least.

Do any of the models support both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi?

Our default network is the 5.0 GHz.
I forced the hub to the 2.4 GHz network. Now I just have to make sure my device is using a 2.4 GHz network if I want to control the hub with the app.

No

This should not be needed. My Laptop is connected to a separate SSID that is exclusive for 5GHz, while the hub is connected to the 2.4Ghz band on a split SSID (both bands on same SSID). I have no issues connecting to the hub. All that matters is that both devices are on the same LAN. If one SSID is a guest network for example, some routers will segregate those devices into a separate LAN/VLAN.

Also my phone is on the same SSID as the hub, but it will switch between 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz based on signal quality. It usually sites on the 5Ghz. Again, no issues connecting to the hub.

I have all my devices on the same flat /24 LAN. The only thing that is segregated is the true "Guest" network, for actual guests that visit to connect their phones to.

This is done with just a basic consumer ASUS router, I do not have any fancy equipment.

App has never worked for me. No matter what network I’m on.
I was able to connect directly to the hub with IP address but only when on 5 gHz.
VERY VERY strange to say the least.
We have an Orbi router.

Fast forward a few weeks until now, and NOTHING is working. Power bounced over the weekend and we weren’t home. Hubitat is completely unreachable. Tried every normal thing to get it reachable.
Lastly, tried de-registering and reregistering it and can’t reregister.
The thing comes on, blue light then green light and then nothing. Hubitat web page ‘find hubs’ doesn’t see it.

Not sure why people think de registering will fix anything.

Connect to hub via the local IP. Then you need figure out what is blocking it from reaching the internet to be able to register it again.

No need to be snarky!

Nothing else worked. It was a last ditch effort to unregister it. Really thought I might be able to start over.

Was finally able to connect. New IP address.

You can give the hub a reserved IP on the router to avoid it changing again.

If the hub is online and can reach the internet then the mobile app features can work from anywhere, home or away. So even if you are not able to make a local connection directly to the hub the mobile app should still work in cloud mode. The admin interface only works local but the rest of the mobile app can work in cloud mode. It will says either (cloud) or (local) on the main screen by the hub name.
