Interior smart lock solution?

I have an interior door that I want to secure and hopefully automate. Looking for good ideas for this. I'd prefer Zwave.

Any deadbolt could be added to an interior door.

You could also go with one that locks just the handle. I have one from Weiser/Kwikset that works well, and when it eventually breaks down, they have a lifetime warranty on hardware.

If you're looking to "lock out" one side, any deadbolt will do - we use a number of Kwikset 914s (they have Zigbee and Z-Wave versions) for interior doors.

This. If the door doesn’t have a deadbolt already, in general you can either add a deadbolt, or use a lever lock. Boring holes for a deadbolt is more work but you’d have more lock options in the end.

Same devices that would be used for exterior doors.

I have a Schlage FE599, Z-wave, that I use on an interior closet and it has worked well.

Good luck with this. I once attempted to make a warranty claim on a Kwikset deadbolt that had a lifetime finish warranty (back when they did that).
When I called the 800 number to make the warranty claim, they said they could not honor the warranty without the original receipt and UPC code from the original box. The rep was noticeably thrown off when I confirmed I had both of those. They took my info and said someone would contact me, which never happened. When I called back, they said I had to email. I scanned the backup and emailed it; no response. Called back and they said I had to email, which I had already done but I sent it again. After no response to at least two emails, I gave up...

Odd - I had mine replaced a few times when the mechanism broke. They just asked for a picture of the broken unit, and then a while later, a new one arrived in the mail. I’m in Canada - maybe the warranty is honoured better here?
