I think it would be a good idea to integrate security panels in to Hubitat. You guys should support Envisalink, Elk and Konnected. They are already third party well supported but each company would work with you for full intergration. I would suggest a security panel keypad that would pop up as a dashboard tile or in its own section.
It might help to put a bug into the ear of these companies. If users ask for integration, it might help these companies to be aware of Hubitat, and give them an idea customers actually want this to happen.
There are community integrations available for Envisalink and Konnected. I use Envisalink and it works well, though it is super chatty so I run it on a separate hub.
I suspect that (at least to a certain degree) the issue may be one of some assumed potential liability issues with an officially supported Hubitat integration with UL approved dedicated security systems? Hubitat clearly stresses (again perhaps as a CYA) that it is not designed nor intended for use as a security or life safety device. Although I understand that you are only suggesting some form of integration or interface with these purpose built dedicated security panels, perhaps any “official” integration may have some liability issues? I am certainly no legal expert so this is only my 2 cents (and my opinion on this is likely worth much less).
I never thought about that. If they slaved off a panel and only reported what the panel tells them. That way they would not interfere with its operation. Anyway the integration is pretty good so this is not much of an issue. Though the Envisalink intergration does not report power status.
