Integrate Sonos and Switches Into Groups or Scenes

Just switched all of my devices from ST to HE (84 of them). In St I was able to group switches and Sonos so that I could say to Alexa “Turn on Great Room” and the appropriate lights turned on as did my Sonos Speakers in that room.

Can’t seem to figure that out in HE.

Well, to group switches is easy.
Use the built-in function "groups and scenes".

Grouping sonos speakers can be done, but requires some rule machine work.

I would create a Scene in the Groups and Scenes app. This creates a virtual switch with the Scene name that can adjust multiple switches/dimmers/bulbs when it is toggled.

You can then share that virtual switch with the Alexa skill as well as operating it from Dashboards and other apps.

Then, I would write a Rule Machine rule that is triggered by events on the virtual switch from the Scene and do other actions in response, like operating your Sonos devices.

That’s great!. I got a rule to do everything except the music part. This will work.

What do you want to do with Sonos?

I want to be able to toggle the room on and off (both lights and music). With your help I think I’ve got it now. I had to make two different rules triggered by whether a switch in the room was on or off in the scene.

Just tried to and it works as envisioned.
