Instructions For Generic Z-Wave Shade Controls

Need instructions for using the "Generic Z-Wave Shade" controls located at:
Devices-->tap on Device Name (eg 'Shade 2")--> page with controls for "Shade 2"
I'm especially (but not limited to) info on how to use these commands:
Set Position
Start Position Change
Stop Position Change

"Set Position" sets the position of the shade to the specified percentage, where closed is 0 and open is 99 (Z-Wave doesn't technically go to 100, though some drivers will still accept this value). Some drivers may offer an option to reverse. Not sure if this is one.

"Start Position Change" takes one parameter, which you'll see: "up" or "down." Up will start increasing the shade position from its current level to 99, while down will go down towards 0, either until it either reaches that point or you send a "Stop Position Change." (This is often combined with a real-world button device where you can press/hold to start and release to stop, or perhaps push one button to start and another to stop.) It's possible some devices won't support this, or particularly with Z-Wave devices and maybe especially battery-powered ones at that, won't respond fast enough to make it as neat as it sounds.

Both of these commands are similar to "Set Level" and "Start/Stop Level Change" on dimmers and bulbs, if you are familiar with those devices and commands.

Many thanks for the help.
I was hoping that the 'Start Position Change" and "Stop Position Change" were tools to reset/adjust the Upper and Lower shade LIMITs. The actions you describe for those "buttons" (Commands) seem to me to already be performed by the "Open" (which goes from wherever the shade is to 99) and Likewise the "Close" command moves the shade from it's current position to 0. And the "Set' command positions the shade to any value.
I'm a newbie still in (stinky) diapers, struggling to reconcile my Graber/Somfy shades with Hubitat so thanks for your help. I get the feeling that it is a case that it's easy if you know what you're doing.

Only if you don't "stop" the "start." That's the neat thing about them--you can start opening or closing and then send the "stop..." command once you reach the desired position. (Normally "Open" or "Close" will keep going, though it's possible some devices could respond to a stop, depending on the device/driver--but that's the specific intent of these other two commands.)

Unlike "Set Position," you don't need to know the desired percent ahead of time; you can just stop when it's where you want (usually by a visual assessment of the real device).

Some drivers might offer this kind of option, or your device may have some configuration available even if it's not in the driver (e.g., maybe a Z-Wave parameter to set the max or min level/position). It may be worth looking into. I'm not familiar with your particular device, but the manual would be a good source of information. Since they are apparently Z-Wave, look for something like a list of "parameters" (or Z-Wave configuration parameters or some language like that). Someone can help you get them set if there are any offered that do what you want, even if the driver doesn't offer a specific option.

Many thanks!
Lots to learn!!
