[Initial Release] Rule Machine Manager (New Rule Machine Interface)

I'm trying to delete 2 rules in RMM that I've deleted from RM. How do I accomplish this? Just see view & copy rule.

Ok, it seems when I collapse then expand they're deleted.

There is, what I would call, a bug in RM. When you delete a rule in RM, it is not actually removed from the output of the function I use to pull the rules into RMM. Once you delete a rule from RM, it is not removed from RMM. You actually have to do this:

  1. Delete the rule from RM.
  2. Go into the main RM app, and click "Done".

Once you've completed step 2; go back to RMM, and you will be presented with an alert that says something like "some rules have been deleted".

Now, click "Done" in RMM.. and the rules are deleted from RMM.

NOTE:
I created a topic asking hubitat staff, which you can follow here:

Thanks for the quick reply :slightly_smiling_face:

Contact Support

That means coming right back here and creating a topic. This is the only way, to my knowledge, to contact support.

The topic already has about 100 views. I'll give it another day or two, then I'll "at mention" one of the support staff. I don't want to be too persistent

Bruce (forum name @ bravenel - separating @ and name to avoid pinging him until you want to in the other thread) is the guy on Rule Machine, likely he is the one you need to ping for an authoritative answer.

Thank you.
Just pinged him on the other thread.
Good looking out!

Any updates on new apps?

Nothing as of yet.
I'm still waiting to hear back on a couple items.
I'd like to know if there are any other API features for RM that I'm not taking advantage of; and incorporate those while everything is still fresh.

And unfortunately, I do not see any other methods for pulling other rules created by other apps.
I'm sure I could ask users to install the Maker API if they want advanced features; and poll the data I need that way... but I'd like to explore native solutions first.

TL>DR:
No, I have no yet... but have not dismissed the idea.

:+1: thanks for the update.

If you don't make any new apps, we aren't going to pay you.

But..

When you make some new apps, we still aren't going to pay you!

Oops, that didn't end up feeling very inspirational.

Hi @joshlobe ,

Great job! I´m liking what I see and use.

I just believe there is something that is important and so far is missing (AFAIK),

The red (paused) word on, yes, paused rules. Any news when that is coming?

Thanks

Most of the time in my experience. Still very useful but usually requires multiple iterations to refine the correct code.

Yes, of course. Thank you for the continued interest!

Lol. Well, I learned early on in the WordPress community that making community apps; while certainly appreciated by the community; will never pay the bills of the developer. I think that is true of most community aided platforms. The inspiration comes more from learning a new language; expanding my resume; and meeting some super-awesome people along the way!

Thank you, kindly!!

I'm waiting to hear back from one of the platform developers so I can ask some questions specific to Rule Manager. I am unable to determine the "status" of the rule from the data I receive back from the function. This leaves two options (from what I know so far):

  1. The output of the function needs to be modified to include rule attributes (like paused or not).
  2. I can probably get the status of a rule using the Maker API app provided by Hubitat. But that would require asking the user to install the app.

I suppose I could do number 2 (lol... sorry, dad mind), and if the Maker App is not installed by the user; I could display a message. Something like "Install Maker API for advanced functionality".

Hmmmm......

Release Version 1.1.4

  • Added opacity to color picker for container titles.
  • Added "Edit Container" to the container options.
  • "Edit Container" currently supports background color and opacity.

More toys w/the toy. Cool, thanks very much!!

OMG. Can you make a "hubitat dashboard designer manager" to replace the awful dashboard management? So excited to try this out! The ease of use and drag and drop of your tool is exactly what effective UI should do. So much better than anything Hubitat has visually.

Thank you very much!!
Please feel free to come back and post your experiences.
I welcome any feedback.

Any news on the red letter word at the end of the rule name?
