Ikea Tradfri pairs but does not respond to commands

Ok. I can help out by moving my main hub to 2.1.6.x later to see if the issue persists.

As for the pairing issue, In my case, there are no bulbs on either of my hubs. I just find these TRÅDFRI outlets difficult to pair. Anecdotally, it wasn’t always like this. When I first got mine a year ago, it was easy. No idea why it’s now such a pain, but there were changes to the Zigbee stack within the last year if I’m not mistaken. Maybe related, maybe not.

I think the same, I reckon the units I've bought recently seem to need a slightly different pairing set up. I'm sure previously you could just hold the reset button in and it would go into pairing mode and click on/off to let you know it had, now it doesn't do that until after the button is released after a length of time that you have to guess. Maybe the device firmware has changed (or I'm just mis-remembering it).

Well @MurphMS, I have zero explanation for why it doesn't work for you. I have no explanation for why it worked on my main hub yesterday, but wouldn't work on my test hub.

But stranger still, I have not explanation why it worked on my main hub when I updated it to 2.1.6.118 and started from the beginning with the device deleted. And I'm totally baffled as to why it now also works on the test hub too. :upside_down_face:
Rolled my main hub back to 2.1.3.125 and it's still working there as well.

One thing I did differently with the pairing, since that was giving me issues again. Instead of putting the hub in pairing mode first and then holding the pairing button on the device, I instead held the button down on the device for 5 seconds first, then put the hub into pairing mode. This discovered the device faster and maybe it is the key to success for these outlets?

If that doesn't work, some of the other superstitious type stuff I did was to hold in the pairing button while plugging it in, keeping the button held in for 5 seconds, then releasing and immediately pressing the pairing button 4 times. :grimacing:

None of this :point_up_2: is in their manuals or part of a real procedure for these outlets. They're a bunch of superstitious actions I did that are valid for other Zigbee devices. But there it is, for better or worse.
