Hi guys, I've just bought a Tradfi colour E27 bulb today. What's the best driver to use for this?
There might be some community drivers available. The biggest issue is that Tradfri uses an XY color model, while Hubitat uses HSL, and it is my understanding from Wikipedia that it is very difficult to translate XY into HSL.
This is difficult, indeed. (I've been working on this for probably years with my custom Hue Bridge integration and haven't found anything reliable enough to put out there. It would help with some bulbs like this, or Hue's increasing reliance on xy
instead of the hs
color model, which I'm thinking is unlikely to reverse course any time soon...)
However, if this bulb does only do XY, it's possible Hubitat's new-ish "Advanced Zigbee RGBW Bulb" driver will work--either that or the "Generic..." equivalent, but I don't think they added any attempts at xy
handling to the latter like they did for the former (I just don't remember to what extent). I also do recall seeing community drivers, which I think worked mostly via custom commands and hardcoding known values to send for color.
So--trying one of these, starting with the "Advanced..." driver if you want something built-in, would be my suggestion. Be sure to hit "Configure" (and wait a few seconds before trying anything else--with the Advanced driver, it sends some commands to the bulbs and waits to see how it responds) after switching drivers.
Thus appears to have worked for now. Cheers Beerπ
