My take: Works fine. Slightly larger than most contact sensors. Has a front-facing setup button and LED which I like. The battery compartment is not accessible from the front. Rather, the sensor side comes apart to reveal the battery compartment which has a cover as well. Like several of the IKEA devices, a small screwdriver is really needed to change the battery (1 AAA) rather than sliding the front cover off as in most sensors.
Mounts with 3M adhesive strip. Some reviews complain that you have to mount the magnet to be flat against the sensor, but as long as the locator bars match up, the sensor reads just as well on the side.

I bought 10 of these when they were first available, at that time I was using the Alexa thread network. It took me 2 days to add them, for some reason it was a painful process. One added seamlessly and the others just wouldn’t add without a fight. I managed to get them all connected and shared them into Hubitat. Their performance was okay when they worked but they kept dropping off & showing as unavailable. It was very frustrating. I even bought some of IKEA’s mains plugs to try and enhance the MOT mesh but no matter what i did these wouldn’t add. In the end i decide to buy a Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2 and connect it to HA via USB, they all added straight away and have been flawless ever since. Even the IKEA plugs & bulbs worked immediately, i was glad i bought it, it was well worth £38, plus they were so simple to add to Hubitat.
I think all of the IKEA Matter devices were and still being shipped with firmware that is faulty. My initial devices paired OK with Apple Home but were notorious for dropping off. Current firmware seems to have resolved this.
My experience has been using Apple Home to detect and provide firmware upgrades. Does Alexa do that somehow?
With Alexa you can connect Matter over Thread devices and share them but i wouldn’t recommend it, however, once connected to Home Assistant they did prompt for a firmware update which i did. Maybe i should disconnect one and try it again with Alexa and see how it goes.
