My take: Has local alarm with no apparent way to turn off, but I like the local alarm. Does not have sensor on top of device, and no screw contacts. Works great for the price.
The built-in driver (Generic Matter Water Sensor) should show an option to disable audio and/or visual alarms for devices that support such configuration, including this device. Does that not work for you? In my testing, you did have to leave at least one enabled, otherwise it would disable sending this data to the hub, too (maybe a quirk of this device, maybe a weird consequence of Matter standards; I don't know). But it did work for me, at least.
My take is pretty much the same as yours! (With maybe a bit more hesitation to trust something that costs $8 and uses a relatively new protocol for something this important, but I really have no demonstrated reason to feel this way for this one.
