I think one of my zwave devices is dying, i’ve noticing general device weirdness, like i’d have to tell siri multipule times to turn off a light before she would. At first i blamed Apple and Siri and restarted the integration when it happened, but the weirdness continued.
Progressively the issue got worse and major automations that had worked flawlessly for years certain Z wave devices just weren’t doing what they were told… intermittently. IE turn on/off
I was about to blame hubitat, recent C7 updates and all… BUT this forum would be full of zwave concerns if it was a software issue.
So i dug in, found a zwave ghost and got it cleaned up and a zwave repair ran perfect but the issues persisted.
Turned on command retry logic, power cycled the devices and ran a configure on the devices acting weird but the issues persisted.
When i checked the zwave routing just about all the devices that had been acting weird were routed through the same device…
I powered off the suspect device, and ran a zwave repair on the individual device and a refresh till it said it was pending. then i ran a zwave repair and refresh on the individual devices routed through it. Most changed their routes w/o issue. For the stubourn devices i powered them off and shutdown/unpluged the hub for 15min. On power up a ran 1 more full zwave repair and all the devices had chosen different routes.
After all of that, all but the suspect device have been rock solid for days. Only the GE Enbrighton switch intermittently has issues. Even when i physically turn it on the status does not always update and siri cant always control it.
Is it time to put this switch down?
