I cannot exclude devices

I just receiived my new Hubitat hub and at the point of creating devices. I am coming from a broken Veraplus and so I need to exclude them and then include. My devices are Fibaro.

Hubitat in exclude mode is not reacting to the Fibaro device as I try to exclude it. The device is 2 meters from the hub. I tried several times, but not working.

I cannot use my Vera at all, it is bricked which is why I bought the Hubitat.

What is the trick to get devices excluded please?

Which Fibaro devices? Which one are you trying to pair first?
Did you do a factory reset on the device?

Just for clarity, if your Vera hub is inoperable, you're not going to be able to Exclude the device from it, and so that won't do a factory reset as would typically occur when you use Exclusion. Since the device was never paired with Hubitat, you don't need to do an exclude in Hubitat. You should be able to look up the factory reset procedure for each of the different Fibaro devices you have. I know they are available. Once that's done, you can just put the device into pairing mode and use "Discover Devices" under "Devices" in Hubitat.

From Fibaro support pages:

"Resetting the device is not the recommended way of removing the device from the Z-Wave network. Use reset procedure only if the primary controller is missing or inoperable. Certain device removal can be achieved by the procedure of removing."

I have tried 2 switches less then 2 meters from the hub.

FGD-211 DImmer- Exclude fabaro manual
Method I : Reset by the procedure of removing the Dimmer from the existing Z-Wave network. It is carried out using the controller which has the option for adding/removing devices to/from Z-Wave network (see the manual of the Home Center controller). The controller does not have to be a part of the network into which the removed device is included.

Method II : After connecting mains voltage to the Dimmer, within 5 sec the user may its settings by single pressing the first key S1, and then by holding the second key S2.

Method III : Reset by holding B button for 3 sec. after connecting mains voltage to the Dimmer

Method 1- FAIL
Method 2- FAIL
Method 3- FAIL

I used all 2 methods to reset device. Hubitat fails to discover.

Please note I have done this multiple times with my Vera controller, so I am familiar with this process.
Hubitat discovers nothing nor does it exclude nothing. I think my new Zwave is messed up.

How to confirm it is indeed working?

Also is my Z-wave stick the correct freq for China (it should be EU freq which is same as china)?

My Hubitat logs are blank except the FW upgrade during registration.

I just got 1 device to pair. The FGD-211 is paired. Says Status unknown Network ID 02 (why not 01?)

  • deviceType: 256
  • inClusters: 0x72,0x86,0x70,0x85,0x8E,0x26,0x7A,0x27,0x73
  • outClusters: 0x26,0x2B
  • deviceId: 4106
  • manufacturer: 271

Does this look normal to you?

Very normal, Network ID 02 is correct, I suppose this is the first device you paired. ID 01 is the hub, your next ID should be 03. Status unknown should change to active.

OK thank you.
Tried to add this device to my new dashboard. Creating dashboard lists no devices. Where is my 02 device?
Sorry but 1st time using and I want to just work 1 device through the process before I go around to all my devices.

Also say I have no commands for this device. Huh?

Did you select the correct driver for it? I believe it's Fibaro dimmer but I don't see Fibaro dimmer on the list, it should work the generic z wave dimmer.

Select the correct driver @vjv suggested, then click Configure to send the driver details to the device, then Save.

Sorry to be dumb here. But WHERE do I select these drivers?

There's a drop down menu in the device details labelled "Type"

Same problem here, bricked Vera device. Did you ever figure out how to exclude your devices? I’ve tried every means of hard resetting and excluding with HE and no luck. I also see that most of my devices are not Zwave Plus devices but original. Such as original Jasco/GE wall switches or motion sensors that have a 2 at the end of the model number instead of 2.5.

Help!

Welcome to the Hubitat Community!

It’s Christmas and my wife gets a little miffed when I’m on my phone or laptop, but I’ll try to help when possible.

Can you start with what devices (Brand and model) you’re trying to exclude and reset?

No rush here. Don’t get us all killed with the boss.

I was able to get a Ecolink Zwave PIR Motion detector on.

But these I still struggle. I think I successfully excluded a switch because it does identify it up it gets stuck initializing . I’m thinking of ordering a Aoetek Z stick to see if I can exclude up close. I am reading that it’s possible that only Zwave plus works with Hubitat.

The old GE/Jasco (non-Z-Wave-Plus) switches and dimmers work with HE but IMO they are a pain in the butt. I was very happy to get rid of the last one just about two weeks ago. That said, they will exclude but they are cranky. Adding to the pain, GE has several different procedures for excluding depending on the switch model. That last switch I never was able to exclude while it was in place (on my carport) so I finally removed it and brought it inside where I connected the hot and neutral to a plug and pigtail arrangement I made (don't try this if you are not comfortable and very careful working around house current). With the switch powered up with that makeshift rig and sitting about six feet away from my hub, I was able to exclude it.

Ironically, that switch was controlled by a motion sensor on the carport. An Ecolink. That was not a problem even though they were only a few feet apart.

Thanks for the detailed response from someone that feels my pain. So the Non-Zwave Plus aren’t exactly supported by HE. They work but you’ll pull your hair out getting to exclude then add. I believe nearly every single device I have it original Z-Wave. Two of these devices are stuck in ‘initializing’. Do you think a z-wave stick could help exclude up close? I think they have an internal battery. I’m looking for my 100’ CAT5 cable or my TP-link outlet plug range extender
