Hubitat Rack Mount 19"

I just bought a new server rack for the network room. I was looking for a way to rackmount my Reolink NVR; and ended up 3D printing my first parts today (ears for the NVR). The last two pieces that aren't able to be rack-mounted are the 2 hubitats.

Well, with my newfound powers of 3D printing capabilities... I scoured the web looking for a way to rackmount the hubitats. I ended up finding this "system" allowing 3D printing a frame which allows modules to be slid into place.

And it just so happens another user has already created the hubitat module:

So I'm off to the facility again tomorrow to print these pieces and see how it works. I had trouble finding a place that would 3D print; and came across a place at my local University (co-sponsored by GE Appliances) which allows community 3D printing nightly from 5 to 8pm. It's a beautiful building with all sorts of work tables; conference rooms; printers; woodworking; laser etching; computer building.... needless to say, I felt right at home!

Typically with a home rack these kinds of devices get zip tied to a perforated shelf. This allows you to mount a bunch if random things on a shelf. Saves U's.

If you do this I'd recommend not placing the device mid rack like the photo. I'd put it at the top for best location of the antenna.

Depending on the house the rack location might not be the best location for the hub.

This is what I have now. Two hubitat hubs and my reolink nvr are all "velcro-ed" to the shelf they are sitting on. But then I have this open space in my rack and it's not the most aesthetically pleasing. If it were just one hub.. I'd say it's overkill. But with two hubs.. I think I can almost justify the rack mount

Absolutely. Not sure what the guy in the photo was thinking.

Agreed. My rack location is quite centralized in the home. Besides, I have had zero performance issues with either of my hubs.

Thanks for reading and thanks for the feedback!

Not exactly the purpose of a rack, but I get it. It's easy enough to put a 1u block or vent plate on the space to meet the ocd factor.

You can have custom 1u plates made also. In case you want to match other things like ubiquiti gear.

When mine was in my server room (my c8 and c8 pro) I ran bolt on antennas. So they had a 24" wire and clamped to the top of my rack.
