Hubitat Kasa Integration - Problems locating HS300

@djgutheinz I just got a Kasa HS300 and have configured it through the TPLInk Kasa app and it works fine through the app. I am trying to set it up on the "native" Hubitat Kasa Integration and for some reason the app can't find it. I can ping the device from the wifi network and from the same network segment that my Hubitat main hub is on. I have attempted to read through all of the posts the community and I don't really see anything that references this issue. Any suggestions?

I just hooked up a HS300 yesterday using DJ's integration. I know you can't have both integrations active simultaneously. Did you fully remove DJ's integration and all the devices it created? I'd also reboot after totally removing DJ's external integration, then load the native integration

Most probable cause is the return data to the device is truncated (short). This is due to Hubitat's wifi UDP implementation and only affects the HS300. A fix is in-test now (next community app release).

Fix is not difficult:

  • Assure you do not have any Kasa schedule items in the HS300 (done in the Kasa App).
  • Limit the name of the individual plugs to a TOTAL of 90 characters.

Try that and see if it works. While installing, open a log window on your browser and turn on debug log at the bottom. If install fails, private message the log to me. If it works, please mark this as a solution.

I don't have any schedules. So I assume the latter. I don't know how to change the device names in the Kasa app so I will delete it and start over with shorter names. So since there are 6 outlets I assume that means that each device can only be 15 or did I misunderstand?

I am talking about in the Kasa Phone App in all the above. It is a total of 90 for all devices (average of 15).

@djgutheinz Thanks for your help. I will give that a try.....
