Hubitat C7 as Master -> Vera Plus as slave

I am one of the smart ones that decided to migrate from a Vera Plus to Hubitat (C7). There is one device that will not work on the C7 -- the Schlage FE599. If you look through the forums, you'll be able to tell that trying to include this device in the Zwave network is virtually impossible.

However, I like the FE599s that I currently have and have no desire to replace them. What I was thinking about was to use the Vera Plus that I currently own and include it as a slave to the Hubitat C7. I am hoping this will provide me with the ability to view/control the FE599 through Hubitat master, even if I have to writer a driver to do so.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone ever used a Vera controller as a slave to the Hubitat controller? If so, can you walk me through the steps necessary?
  2. Is what I'm trying to do feasible?
  3. Will having a master/slave relationship slow down my Z-wave network. I have 70+ Zwave devices and 3 Zigbees.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-in-advance.

Funny, I have a Schlage FE 599 that I migrated over from SmartThings. I have not had the problems that others had that led the Hubitat Team to remove the FE 599 from the Compatible Devices list. Mine is ancient and I plan to replace it but there are not a lot of lever locks that will accommodate a dead bolt above on the door. I made sure to have a repeater that supported beaming close to the lock and when I re-paired it, I moved the hub within about 8 feet.

Thank you. I have tried everything that I know how, as well as followed every suggestion from the forums, but to no avail. I do have a brand new FE599 coming in from Schlage this week to replace one of my other ones. I'm going to try to include it, but I'm not optimistic. My C7 seems to time out before the inclusion completes (stuck on "Initializing"). If it works, then that's great. However, I'm hoping for the best, but planning for the worst. If so, I'm wondering if the master/slave would get me where I need to be.

Thanks again.

Have you woken the lock a second (or third) time while initialize is pending? I've read reports that it's a possible help and the one time I felt the need to try it... when I picked my head back up to look at the screen after doing the wake dance (3 rapid pushes on a button behind a tiny hole) the Initialize had completed. Did it finish the Include because of the wake in under a second? Or was it going to finish anyway? Can't tell.. but I'm not gonna drop the option to wake again from my bak of tools.
