I can't say, because I'm guessing just like you, but I suspect it's unintentional. I think the PlatformOS is supposed to be on there and perhaps some 'corner cutting' got accidentally injected and we're seeing a few hubs not boot to whatever IS on them. Pure, wild, ass, guess. 
Now you have two hubs! 
What do you have planned?
It’s so nice to have an additional hub to be able to try all the stuff that normally makes you (me anyway) too nervous to attempt.
It's exactly that kind of thinking that got me to 6 hubs!!

I just need to try and get the old hub working so I have a second, right now its still a paper weight atm. I am just glad the new one is working and the old USB is working so I was able to restore everything.
