When I first pair a device, sometimes I use a placeholder name like NEW or TEST. Then I'll go back and change the name appropriately. Over the past few weeks my hubs on Mesh aren't updating the device labels. I could have sworn this used to happen automatically. I've tried rebooting hubs. Is there any way to force the name change?
Would someone from the hubitat team mind chiming in here? I'm asking if this behavior is normal or not, I don't believe it is but I could be wrong.
What's the full sync interval for the target hub, the one with linked devices?
It's in Settings - Hub Mesh, at the very bottom of the page.
Also, does triggering Sync Now manually have an effect?
Sync interval is set to 2 min. Manual sync does not update to the correct name.
Sorry for leaving this thread for so long but the issue persists, device names do not update even after manually updating. Any suggestions?
I have noticed the same thing. I believe the Device Name doesn't change, but the Device Label does.
I could be wrong but I think I remember them updating/changing names in the past; and the reply above from gopher.ny, staff, would lead me to believe this is correct. It would be helpful to get a definitive answer on this, am I chasing a dragon or is this an obscure bug?

This might not be a popular thing to say here but I think it's a little disappointing that I was unable to get a straight answer from the developers. After playing around with it I figured out how it's supposed to work.
For anyone with the same question, this is the best I can explain it:
On the host hub (the hub the device is paired too), the Device Name is automatically populated and usually describes the device using the brand name, and cannot be edited.
On the host hub, the Device Label is whatever you choose to name your device.
This is where it gets a little weird.
On the receiving mesh hub (the hub you are sharing your device TO), the Device Name is automatically populated from the originating hubs Device LABEL. This cannot be modified and in most cases, you'll leave the Device Label EMPTY (especially if you want to automatically have your names updated across meshed hubs).
If you decide to go ahead and fill in the Device Label on the receiving hub, changes made to the Device Label on the originating hub will only copy themselves to Device Name (and will not be the name you see in the Device list, instead you'll see the manually entered Device Label).
I probably could have explained it better but that's the best I can do. I'm not sure why it needs to be this way, but once you understand how it's supposed to work it's not really a big deal.
