How to restore ZWave Devices from Backup?

I have a C7, and on 11/22, for some reason, Hubitat lost connection with many of my devices. Not fully realizing I was having a problem, I saw the update to 2.3.9.201 was available and updated it on 11/28.

Well, yesterday, when I had difficulties adding a new light switch, I realized the last activity time stamp on many of my devices was 11/22.

I tried the shutdown -> red light -> 2-minute off trick, and it didn't work.
I tried to roll back to 2.3.9.197 and restore the db db from a backup, but it too didn't work (Something new, now my Zwave Details page is empty. yes, I tried the shutdown method again)
On my latest attempt, I tried to install the latest version again and restore from a more recent backup. Still, I haven't had any luck.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The Z Wave radio is not backed up with the database unless you have a paid Hub Protect subscription.

Did you do a reset on the z-wave radio? Do you have a backup on your PC? Have you tried any other restore points on you DB?

@johnwill1 - I do pay for the Hub Protection Plan. I restored my backup from it.

@rlithgow1 - I didn't reset the z-wave radio. I do have backups on my PC and tried to restore from it.

local backups don't restore the radio but you have hub protect so that does restore radios so I would restore from the cloud backup.

As @rlithgow1 notes, you have to use a Cloud backup to restore your radios/devices along w/apps and setups.

From here in Settings>Backup and Restore>Cloud Backups:

This is exactly what I did. Going to do it again and document the events here :

Here's the closest thing I could get from a long perspective of the restore.

Here's the Zwave Details screen :

Now I'm going to try the shutdown trick.

I am guessing that unnecessarily restoring the z-wave cloud backup is what blanked out your z-wave. It seems like whatever backup you are using does not have the z-wave part. First I would download all your local backups to your PC for safe keeping. This is in case the hub makes more and purges the older good ones you may want. Also turn off the automatic cloud backups so no more get made on accident while hub is non functional.

Have you tried using older cloud backups? If you can use an older backup to get the z-wave back you could then restore a newer local backup (or cloud but only do the database) to get your most recent hub database back.

If no cloud backups will work, maybe your z-wave radio is having some sort of malfunction.

You could put in a support request here since you have Hub Protect: Subscriptions – Hubitat Support

I need to figure out how to download the cloud backups.

I was thinking about getting a C8-Pro. What are the chances I could migrate the settings to it.

You cannot download cloud backups, only the local backups.

If your backups do not have good Z wave data the chance of migrating is 0%

Well, that sucks.... I ordered a C-8 Pro and I guess I'll have to manually re-add all my devices. I do want to know what went wrong, so I don't end up in the same situation. Is this something Support would help me with?

Did you ever try older cloud backups, or anything I suggested? There is a chance an older cloud backup might have the z-wave data. There is also a chance the radio on your current hub is shot so the backups cannot restore, and in that case a migration might work. I think if the restore fails though, it is supposed to give you a warning.

I also gave you think the link above to put in a support request.

Without a detailed list of exactly what you clicked on and in what order I have no idea what went wrong. Could be some sort of software or hardware issue, but my first thought is that it was user error from panicking and clicking all sorts of things without knowing what they do.
