Wondering if anyone knows one goes about control the RGB lighting, like the colors, brightness, temperature of light,etc... without using an app or desktop? Specifically was looking for some kind of external panel that doesn't require wiring that I could control the lights with if I don't want to use my phone or voice or desktop.
I use this RGBGenie remote along with the built-in Mirror app.
If you want something on the wall, perhaps this would work:
And this remote requires wiring to be powered, but AFAIK still functions as a remote:

would I be able to control these lights with it? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08R5FWMCW and mounting it into a wall panel is not an option, as I'm currently renting atm.
Yes. My experience is only with the hand-held remote (the first one), but I imagine they will all work the same way. It pairs to Hubitat - there's a driver for it. Then its just a matter of using the Mirror app to have it control any RGBW light; including the Sengleds you linked to.
I just found this light controller (https://www.amazon.com/Mi-Light-Changing-Temperature-Adjustable-Smartphone/dp/B06XRMSMXH/) that looks pretty cool but doubt that it would control the Sengled Zigbee Lights
No link in your post.
refresh, thanks
That only works with their own lights (Mi Lights).
Paul Hibbert's Video mentions that the lights can be controlled via Hubitat but the switch panel can also control the lights, in this case they're the Ajax Online light bulbs but I can't find any US RGB light versions. https://youtu.be/6CFpGRGGHDQ. This would of been the perfect solution to be able to have the best of both world. Leveraging my Hubitat w/ a bright/dimmable RGB lights and have a manual switch that i mentioned before whenever I didnt' want to use the HE's access.
Omg, I think I found the solution!
Get these:
(Control this with Hubitat) Smart Zigbee GU10 Spotlight Bulb - Ajax Online Ltd
https://www.amazon.com/Ajax-Online-Smart-Zigbee-Spotlight/dp/B08MXXG8MF/
Use the manual wireless portable Wall Remote (4 Zone Wall Remote (Zigbee Pro Series) - Ajax Online Ltd)
Then buy these adapter so that work on my US based socket
https://www.amazon.com/Onite-71-E27GU10P10-WT-Edison-Bayonet-Adapter/dp/B01AT279RA/
The only issue I see is that the ones I found that are available mention that they're 30 degree lights (meaning they output lights at a more narrow angle), I never considered this.
The alternate choice is to go with the Sengled and n no wall controller,
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08R5FWMCW/ instead but have no nice portable wall panel controller that allows that wide range of control directly on the light. Using an apps would be convenient for my wife and I but not for guests.
The Mi.Light Wall Smart Panel is exactly the same thing as the Ajax version, just branding is different.
https://www.amazon.com/Mi-Light-Wall-Mounted-Controller-Spotlight-Downlight/dp/B06XRMSMXH/
Would this not work with the Ajax Online version to control. Is it safe to assume since it's just a rebranded model, it would work and operate the same way when paring it a compatible light source?
The RGBgenie Pico remote or handheld remote can relay commands through the Hubitat so any attached lighting can be controlled. PM me if you have any questions.
Will do thanks!
If it is just a rebranded Mi light controller it doesn’t bode well for your purpose. If memory serves me correctly, @aaiyar posted in another thread that the Mi products really only work with their hub. So I would expect the same.
Now you’re thinking, “But it claims to be Zigbee??” Oh, I’m sure it is certified. Well,… the sad truth is some manufacturers choose to use the standard in “unique” ways that don’t follow how most people envision it should work. Controllers (remotes) are especially bad about being designed like this.
Listen to the wisdom imparted by the “wise ones” like @aaiyar, Grasshopper. I should have sought their experience earlier on this and many other things. If I had I wouldn’t have as large a box of things I tried but don’t well. Maybe one day I too can grab the marble.
Remember the lines for bog rolls when the pandemic started? I got lines of folks twice as long who'd contest that description.
Well, in this community it is accurate.
the MI Light controller doesn't necessarily need to work directly with Hubitat, just with the lights directly. I'm fine if the HE doesn't see this control or connect to it. With that in mind, do you think it's still wise to pursue this path?
This product advertises that it works with Hubitat in their description.

Now at the 199.99 price tag that includes 4 Zigbee RGBW lights, the RF remote control that has crazy amount of adjustments, my only reservation on this is the light source. Has anyone had experience using these kind of lights? I know I have to buy an adapter to make it work with my US based socket E27 and that's just an extra 10 bucks for a 10 pack.
My alternate option is to buy the Sengled
4x, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08R5FWMCW/ and use the Pico Remote that was mentioned but not have manual control over the colors/brightness like the way the remote does for the Ajax Online brand RF remote controller. This option is much cheaper and might give me more lighting.
So to break it down what I'm looking at.
Ajax Online:
4pk RGB GU10 (30degree lighting) + RF RGB Controller: $199.99
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MXYTFKQ
E27 to GU10 Socket Converter: $10
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AT279RA/
OR
Sengled:
4pk RGB US based Socket : $80
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08R5FWMCW
RGB Genie PICO remote: $30
https://www.amazon.com/Zigbee-Remote-Dimmer-RGBgenie-ZB-5122/dp/B07V59Q4X5
So I'm kinda stuck, can anyone shed some light on this (Pun intended).
Sengled bulbs do not act as repeaters and tend to play better with Zigbee mesh networks. The Pico remote you listed will be able to control colors through Hubitat then. Not sure on the Ajax products as I have never used them.
