I am currently using a C8 hub. Recently, I replaced a hue bulb with a new hue bulb in my home system. The original hue bulb was called Floor Lamp. I first removed the Floor Lamp bulb from the Hue app. I then removed Floor Lamp from my Hubitat devices. I added the new hue bulb via the Hue app and verified it was working with the Hue app. Next, I added the new hue bulb to Hubitat. I named the new bulb the same name as the old hue bulb, Floor Lamp. The Hubitat Hue Integration app found the new Floor Lamp. After enabling the bulb in the Hubitat Hue Integration app, I added the new Floor Lamp to Hubitat Amazon Echo Skill. The new Floor Lamp bulb works with my Amazon Echo. So, it is working via Hubitat.
However, in Hubitat Devices, the device called Floor Lamp was non-responsive. While I clicked on on or off via the Floor Lamp device in Hubitat Devices, it would not control the light. So, I assumed, the Floor Lamp in Hubitat Devices was the old Floor Lamp device. I then deleted the device believing that Hubitat would discover the new Floor Lamp and create a new device for the new Floor Lamp bulb. This never happened.
When I look at the settings for my Hue Integration App, I can see the Floor Lamp's network ID. I then tried to create a virtual device and change the network ID to that of the Floor Lamp. However, when I try to change the network ID to that of the Floor Lamp, Hubitat tells me that the network ID is in use and to try using a different ID.
In sum, I have an old and new Hue bulb using the same name. I deleted the bulb in devices. The new bulb is working in the Echo Skill via the Hue Integration App. However, I cannot add the bulb to any automation tasks as the bulb is not in my device list. I know the network ID of the bulb. Any thoughts on how I can add this bulb to my devices manually?
It's likely that the Hue API has retained the removed bulb and you just added the old one back instead of the new. I suggest removing both again, then go to Hue Integration and let it search for new bulbs. It may help to change the name of the bulb in Hue app just to make sure you're selecting the new one.
Thanks for the quick reply. I do agree I did myself no favors by using the same name. I did so only because I wanted to call the device by the same name for the Echo Skill. But, if I knew then what I know now, I would have called it something else. I also have not been able to find a way to delete the current device from Hubitat as the bulb is not in my devices and my poking around other settings has not revealed any way for me to delete the builb. Any chance you can point me to documentation or or a post on how to remove the device? Thanks!
