How to Add a Lutron Device

Smart Bridge, or Smart Bridge Pro? The non-pro Lutron bridge will not have the telnet option. What is the exact model number of the Lutron Bridge on the label or box?

Norman here, I’m having trouble adding a 12th device to Lutron integration. I omitted adding it on the 1st pass and have added a 5 button pico as device 12 but it does not appear when attempting to create a basic rule. Is there an update I must invoke?

Maybe because you have capitol P instead of lowercase p?

I just added my a number of switches and modules to Hubitat. I am over 35 devices now with Lutron. One thing I don't recall from when I did this in the past is that I had to operate them locally after they had been added to Hubitat before Hubitat could control them.

Example:

Added switch to Lutron App
Added switch to Hubitat
Operate switch from Hubitat - no update of status and switch did not respond.
Operate switch from Lutron App (I didn't actually use the switch but assume the same result)
Hubitat showed the updated status in the device and now operates the switch fine.

Perhaps this was the way it always was and I just didn't notice?

I've never had that issue. Just add it and it works from hubitat. I mean it's using telnet commands and as long as it's paired to the Lutron hub it should be fine.

Just added another dimmer switch and it did it again. I could not get control of the dimmer from Hubitat until I operated the dimmer through the app (again didn't do the switch but I suspect that doesn't matter) after the switch had been added to Hubitat.

I can't figure out how to expose the firmware of the hub - if that is even relevant.

I'm guessing this is some oddity with Lutron's telnet API--it's pretty simple and nothing the hub does shouldn't really matter aside from matching the device IDs (and expected commands, but we know that's working since it wouldn't change before and after). Maybe Lutron doesn't expose a device ID over telnet until it's been used once in the system? Does it really have to be the app or does physical control of the device also work? Could also depend on your specific system (sounds like Caseta or RA2 Select maybe?).
