How do I update a zwave or zigbee mesh network when moving a device

I have some devices like water sensors and even some switches that I occasionally move around (especially at Halloween when I reuse my automation for some crazy stuff). When I move these devices they sometimes lose their connection to the network and my understanding is that it is because they had a specific place in the mesh network relying on repeaters and I end up moving too far from their connecting node.

Is there something I should do before I move a device? Or after for it to find a new place in the mesh?

I have C-8 hub that almost everything is on. Do have a secondary C-8 used to cover my garage area connected via hub mesh.

For z-wave, go to settings>>z-wave details and click the repair button on that device. For zigbee it will settle on its own.
