How can I do this

I have a power inverter, it has a feature on it called (power save mode) the only way to wake up the inverter on power save mode is to give it about 300 watts or more.

I have been thinking about this for a while trying to figure out what I can do to give this inverter about 5 seconds of 300 watts.

here is the fun part, I have a transfer switch that gets disconnected when the batteries go down to a certain voltage, the transfer switch automatically connects to house power and the inverter goes back into sleep mode.

I need to start the 300 watt process again for 5 seconds when my transfer switch gets connected again to the batteries to power the inverter.

I have a something that's 300 watts but I cant figure out how to power off after 5 seconds, and when the power gets disconnected and then reconnected how to start this process over again

I have a samsung plug that I have been playing with, and I can get it to turn off buy telling it when it detects 300 watts turn off, and delay 5 seconds.. this part works... the only problem is when the plug loses power and reconnects the plug remains off when it gets power back.
how come the plug will not automatically turn on again when it detets power again? and start the process over again?

I'm still new to the hubitat hub and figuring things out slowly, but maybe there is another way to do what I'm trying to do,, I'm happy to take some ideas from others.

thanks

Are you saying the Samsung plug defaults to off if you were to unplug it (or otherwise cut power) instead of restoring its previous state? If so, what model do you have? I have a couple of the newest one, the long-ish, square 2018/"v5" model (not really sure it's the fifth generation, but it matches the motion sensor generation number that was released at the same time), and it seems to remember for me.

Some devices have an option for this (lots of newer Z-Wave ones do). Many (especially Zigbee ones) don't, so you might be stuck with whatever the device does. Or perhaps I'm misinterpreting your question. (For example, if the outlet is turning itself--and thus the attached load--off without you doing anything, then it might be a safety feature from being overloaded, through 300W is within most smart outlets' ratings, though perhaps not for motor loads.)

if the samsung plug is in off mode, and I unplug it from the wall, then plug it back into the wall its still in the off mode.

I would like to be able to plug it back in and it would automatically be on...

can this be done?

Someone may have a more creative idea than me, but I don't think so. Some devices will let you set a "default state on power restore" setting, but no generation of SmartThings plug I know is one of them. They also don't send events to the hub when they go online/offline, so nothing there would be useful for automating off of, either.

Your best bet might be to replace this device with one that supports this option. There are likely others, but one I know of that does this is the Zooz ZEN15 (see parameter 21 if you're looking at the manual, but otherwise it's an option in Hubitat's stock driver, so you don't need to worry about the details). The ZEN25 has as similar parameter, but I'd verify that your attached load (if any) is within what it allows. There are likely others from different manufacturers, too, but I don't know any off the top of my head, including any Zigbee options if you're looking for one of those.

I like the Zooz ZEN15, if I order it it'll be here tomorrow..
I'll look into it.. thank you.

Also the Aeotec Smart Switch 6 has this option it can set to always turn on or off or remember last state on power loss.

I have a Zooz Zen15 as well and it does have that option. The Aeotec is a smaller form factor. I use the Aeotec on a dishwasher and the Zooz on my washing machine they have both been working well.

Not sure what you mean here. How do you "give" 300 watts?

why do you need to unplug. it you should just plug your device in that needs 300 watts. turn the plug on for 5 secs then turn off.. no need to unplug it.
