Horizontally Focused motion sensor

I’m wanting to link a motion sensor or something like a garage door obstruction sensor to my bedroom lights across the doorway horizontally. Goal of this being to avoid my dog tripping the sensor during all hours of the day.

Is there something I can recess into the door frame that looks nice or a motion sensor I can use that has a very focused area it monitors. I’ve been trying to find things online, but haven’t had any luck.

I've heard of others putting some sort of cylinder on the front of circular ones to narrow the field of view.

Yes! That's where I read it thanks!!!

I wonder if you used a more rectangular shape you could get some additional horizontal action...
