Is it possible to hook into the "Shadow Mode" variable through RM?
To my understanding, Shadow Mode is the mode that would have been if you weren't Away. When you manually change the Mode to let's say Day, Shadow Mode is also set to Day.
This is actually perfect for my outdoor scheduled lighting since I don't really care if I'm away or not... I want those lights to run as scheduled.
No, this is internal to the Mode Manager app, not a platform feature that is exposed in any way.
I mentioned in another thread recently that I don't use Away mode (for entirely different reasons--in general, conflating what is effectively presence with time of day does not make sense for any of my automations, though I do use presence separately), but this seems like like yet another to add to the list. 
But that won't really help you as is...
