HomeKit / Virtual Switches Support

I have a C8 running the latest software.

I’m very happy with Hubitat in general - and have personally had good luck with the HomeKit Integration.

I created a virtual switch, and ticked the slider that I wanted it shared via HomeKit - but it didn’t appear. I also tried changing the device type to a Generic Switch - but that didn’t help either.

I’ll mention why I’m doing it - in case there might be a better way to achieve what I’m looking to do.

I added my Intellifire fireplaces into Hubitat - and they work very well. I also ticked the HomeKit toggle - and kind of what i expected - the lights and fans showed up, but the fireplaces didn’t.

I thought that if i created one virtual switch for each of my fireplaces and pushed them to HomeKit - if someone using HomeKit turned on one of the fireplace virtual switches, i could have Hubitat see that, and turn on the actual fireplace.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve only had 2 situations in which this did not work to fix it i:
1: used the homekit app in hubitat to select the device instead of flipping the slider on the device itself.
2: At some point the default room in homekit changed, i when through all the rooms in the IOS home app till i found the device.
3: in theory restarting the homekit service on hubitat could help, but i’ve never had to do that.

Thanks @sidjohn1 for the quick reply.

I had confirmed #1, and also double checked #2.

I did the restart in #3 - and the virtual switch showed up, and in the same room as I’ve assigned for the hubitat c8.

Thanks!

When i get home - I’m going to play with whatever rules? I have to setup so when hubitat sees the virtual switch go on, it turns on the fireplace, and when it sees it go off - it turns the fireplace off.

Thanks again!
