HomeKit for a custom driver (Midea Smart AC)?

Is there a method for troubleshooting why a device with a custom driver wouldn't appear in HomeKit? It seems fairly inconsistent (but I admit I may be missing something).

The specific thing I'm trying to troubleshoot is the Midea AC Driver - which runs locally with no cloud integration. Works fine in Homebridge (and HomeAssistant).

Any help would be appreciated

By design, only built-in virtual drivers are supported by the HomeKit integration. This is to meet an Apple requirement for HomeKit certification.
